Juancheng Pixian Doubanjiang is a classic Chinese fermented chili bean paste from Pixian in Sichuan Province. It is made from chili peppers and broad beans, and has a deep umami flavor with rich saltiness and characteristic spiciness. Doubanjiang is a staple ingredient in Sichuan cuisine and is used in well-known dishes like Mapo Tofu, Sichuan wok dishes, and spicy stews.
Usage
Use as a base in wok dishes, Mapo Tofu, noodle dishes, stews, soups, marinades, and other Chinese dishes. Fry the bean paste in a little oil before adding the other ingredients to develop the flavor.
